Holistic view of complexity (position statement)

چکیده
We most often seem to willing to accept commercial marketplace hardware and system software components for direct incorporation in the products we engineer, or use them in supporting roles in respect to design, development, and maintenance. While this utilization is due to wide spread availability and cost factors, it has the negative side effect of introducing unnecessary complexity into the products we engineer as well as their product lifecycles. We cannot hide this comulexitv: we must deal with it: we must even take resoonsibilitv for it, This is a completely unacceptable situation.
